It is with regret that we announce the passing Mr. Robert “Bob” Simon, age 67. Bob passed away on September 5, at his residence in Antioch, CA. Survivors include his wife, Faye Simon; son, Dylan Simon; daughter, Candice Simon; sisters, nephews and nieces and his beloved dog, Skippy. A Memorial mass for Bob was held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church (Brentwood) on September 13. Bob was laid to rest at Oakview Memorial Park the same day.
Bob was baptized Robert Thomas Simon, at St. Mary Catholic church in Dayton, Ohio. He went to grade school there, and in the fourth grade he became an altar boy. He also received the sacraments of Eucharist, Reconciliation, and Confirmation there. He went to Chaminade Catholic High School, and graduated from the University of Dayton, a Catholic college run by the Marianist. He grew up in a large family--6 sisters, and even larger extended family of Rengers and Poors, all knowing God and living faith-filled lives. After college, like a lot of young people going out in the world on their own, He did so well of which became the focus of his life that he forgot about God.Then he lost his job, his marriage, everything that he worked hard for. His health was beginning to fail. It was a dark and lonely time of his life. Then, he met Faye and later started a new life together as husband and wife. They went to church together and Bob has found God again. In his last days, he received the Sacrament of the Sick by Father Erick (Parish Priest of IHMC) On his death bed, he and Faye said the Rosary. He was at peace and happy.
