Robert Scott GriffithJuly 20, 1944 ~ November 30, 2017 (age 73)
Robert, Bob, or Red as he was fondly called, passed away after a battle with Lewy body dementia. He was born in Brisbane, Australia. His father, George, was in the Army in Brisbane and met and married his mother, Sheila. Bob grew up in San Francisco and graduated from Polytechnic High School. He joined the Army and was stationed in Germany for three years repairing cryptographic equipment. After his discharge, he attended City College of San Francisco and Cal State University in Hayward before going to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where he earned a degree in Architectural Design and another in Structural Engineering. He worked for the architecture and construction departments of United California Bank, Bank of California, and World Savings before starting his own business designing primarily additions and remodels to existing structures as well as a few spec houses.
He loved working in the yard, vegetable gardening, camping, skiing, boating with the family in lakes and many happy years boating in the Delta.
He will be missed by his wife of 47 years, Betty, their children Aaron and Laurie, and his grandchildren, Shannah, Weston, Trayvon and Monte. Also, his three sisters, Diane Madsen (Bruce), Judy Gallagher (Dan) and Pam Russo (Tony).
A memorial service in Bob's honor will be held on Friday, December 15th, at 11:00 am at the Higgins Chapel, located at 1310 A St. in Antioch. There will be a reception at Laurie's house to follow. The address will be given out at the service.
