Rick Morton was a loving son, brother, uncle, and great uncle. He was a caring friend and would have done anything to help those close to him.
He passed away on January 1, 2022 and will be missed dearly by those whose hearts he touched.
Rick was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on April 25, 1965. He attended Mingo High School and played on the school football and baseball team alongside his brothers. After graduating in 1984, he worked at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
Rick moved to California in 1988 and began his career at USS Posco, where he worked for 32 years. He loved spending time with his family and friends and attended every event his nieces and nephews were a part of. Rick was a fan of video games and taking his family to the movies. In addition, he enjoyed action movies and listening to classic rock and metal music. His hobbies included fishing, scuba diving, collecting comic books, and being a gun club member.
He was a big Kansas City Chiefs fan, and one of his fondest memories was visiting the Arrowhead stadium with his family and tailgating before the game.
Rick is survived by his mother, Nelda Jean Morton of Mingo, Iowa. He is also survived by his brother Chris Morton and sister-in-law Stacey of Antioch; brother Jack Morton and sister-in-law Becky of Marion, Illinois; brother Greg Morton and sister-in-law Heather of Swan, Iowa; sister Dawn Gladson and brother-in-law Jeff of Mingo, Iowa; niece Ashlee Villa and husband Rick of Martinez; nephew Daniel Morton and wife Monica of Santa Clarita; nephew Eric Morton and wife Meghan of Elk Grove; nephew Mathieu Morton of Antioch; niece Kaylee Morton of Antioch; and a large crew of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins that miss him deeply. Rick was preceded in death by his father Richard Frederick Morton Sr. of Mingo, Iowa; grandfather and grandmother Thomas and Mildred Cherry; grandfather and grandmother Ellis and Geneva Morton. His peaceful and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
Family and Friends are invited to a celebration of life on Friday, March 25, 2022, from 1 pm-4 pm at Higgins Chapel in Antioch.
