Miguel D. Gonzalez 12/20/1955 – 02/15/2020

John 11:25 – 26

“Jesus said to her,” I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die”.

Miguel D Gonzalez, beloved by his family was a Christian man of strong faith, who loved the Lord with all his heart, all his soul, and all his mind!  He came to the United States traveling alone searching for a brother to ensure his well-being.  He did not know the language but he came with excellent carpentry skills and he knew the qualities employers expected i.e. integrity and to work hard! And he did just that! He went to Adult Education and began to take English classes in the evenings and listened closely to his American coworkers who helped to better his English.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a young man in his 20's. He was employed at Kaiser Construction Services, Berkeley California for 34 years. He proved himself time and again as an employee of value by fixing machines and electric saws etc. , even when there was no mechanic around or available. He spent many hours working overtime and on weekends to provide for his family. He was prudent and knew how to save money and passed this concept on to his family.  Miguel could play the guitar, the accordion, and some piano.  He never studied music; this was a natural gift that he received from the Lord and from his Father Papá Jesus who also played the guitar and accordion. However, his greatest legacy was to pass on to his family his love for Jesus Christ!

When Miguel D. Gonzalez became a US citizen; it was one of the proudest moments of his life! Coming from humble circumstances, he educated himself and became a journey level carpenter at an early age! He never took it for granted all the opportunities he was provided! “No one understands and appreciates the American dream of hard work leading to material rewards better than an immigrant”. Miguel D. Gonzalez truly exemplified that success is preparation, hard work, honesty, and learning from failure! Miguel loved worshiping his Lord, giving God His due, wanting change for the better, by embracing what’s true, his beloved Bible!  We thank you Lord for the life of this man! And like the sky above us, Miguel’s love will always surround us, always be with us, and always be remembered!
