December 4, 1948 – January 25, 2022
Mark Maguire, who worked 43 years for newspapers throughout California, passed away January 25 from complications associated with heart disease.  He was 73. 
Mark was born in Renton, Washington, and attended schools in Cupertino and Sunnyvale after his family moved to California in 1956. He graduated from Fresno State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
His first full time newspaper job was at the Madera Tribune where he was hired as a reporter and later became the paper’s assistant editor. He then moved back to the Bay Area and worked as a page designer and copy editor for the Antioch Daily Ledger and the Contra Costa Times. 
Mark spent his retirement years fishing for bass in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and cheering for the Oakland Athletics, San Francisco 49ers and the Fresno State Bulldogs.
He is survived by his wife, Marie, and his siblings Virginia Kindermann, Cathie Nordstrom, Allan Maguire, Paul Maguire and Marj Nourie.
His family will hold a memorial service in the spring.
