Manuel Alicando Isaiyas
Manuel Alicando Isaiyas passed away on Friday after a valiant battle with Congested Heart Failure. He was a great man who touched many with his humor and positivity.
Manuel was born in Dulag, Leyte in the Philippines. He is the son of Jesus Tupaz Isaiyas and Rosita Alicando Isaiyas.
Manuel graduated from Lorraine Technical School in Olangapo City in 1969. He came to America and retired honorably from the U.S. Coast Guard after 22 years of service. He retired as a Senior Chief and earned numerous commendations, including the Good Conduct Award, Bicentennial Unit Commendation Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Unit Commendation with three Gold Stars, Deployment Ribbon with two Bronze Stars and Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon.
He also had a successful career serving at the San Quentin State Prison for 19 years as a Supervising Cook, where he also retired.
He enjoyed karaoke, cooking, trying new cuisine, fishing and going out with his wife and family.
Manuel is survived by his loving wife Fely and children Chris, Paul, and Melissa, and grandchildren Alyssa, Alex and ORyan.
He is also survived by his siblings Pho A. Ong, Romeo A. Ong, Benjamin A. Ong, Josephine A. Ong, Jeanette Ong, Lilia I. Juyo, Adolfo A. Isaiyas, Lydia I. Tongon, Nestor A. Isaiyas, Lucy I. Tura, Amalia I Relatado, Violita A. Dennison, and Natividad A. Isaiyas.
