Leatrice Nielsen

September 28, 1923 ~ March 8, 2021 (age 97)

At the age of 97, Loving Mother to three children – Ed Nielsen (Annemarie), Diana Johnson (Michael), James Nielsen (Piero.) passed at John Muir Concord Campus Hospital after a brief illness.

Predeceased by her husband Edward Nielsen Sr., father Levi Nelson, mother Erma Nelson (Duncan,) and brothers Duard, Max and Morris. Beloved Grams to 6 grandchildren, Sheri, Eric, Elizabeth, Amy, Robert and Ricky, and 6 great-grandchildren, Jaymz, Marlon, Rick, Leatrice, Everett and Aroura.

Lea was always intellectually ahead of her time, and a forward thinker. She could never understand why her brothers always got to go do fun sports and activities and she had to stay home and help take care of the household duties.

After high school graduation in Utah, she went onto Business College where she trained to be a court reporter but found the reporters closet too confining. Before moving to Southern California to marry Ed she worked at a movie distribution house where she could watch all the new movies before their official release dates and collect memorabilia.
Lea was always busy, raising children and working full time. She spent over 30 years as assistant to the city planner for the City of Antioch and still met with her former co-workers once a month for a movie and lunch.

She led her life by example. There was never a job too large or too small that she would not tackle. She was a confidant to many friends and family and would always give honest kind advice when asked and a helping hand in any situation.

Lea was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman. Her very large family and all her friends near and far will miss her terribly every day. A special thank you to Phil and Betsy Walker from the Church of Latter Day Saints for your loving kindness, service and caring of Lea.
