Kathleen passed away peacefully at home on Sunday. June 26th. She was a warm and kind person with a caring heart, which provided comfort to strangers and paved the way to enduring friendships throughout her lifetime. Kathleen also had a keen (sometimes wicked) sense of humor. She will be remembered with smiles and tears by those she touched along the way.
Kathleen was born in Monterey Park to John and Audrey O’Neill. She was the second of four children and Daddy’s only girl. She is survived by oldest brother Ray (Rosa), and younger brothers Tim (Jan) and Joe, in addition to her husband Dave and son Brian. Kathy attended St. John the Baptist Grade School and Bishop Amat Memorial High School. She also received an Associate’s Degree from Santa Monica College as well as and a Human Resources Management Certification from UCLA.
Kathleen enjoyed travel abroad as well as a variety of jobs and volunteer activities. These included working for the Sacramento Welfare Department and spending fifteen years at Korn Ferry International in the Human Resources group. Kathleen also worked at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics as a Human Resources Administrator for two years, where she met Dave who was a two-week volunteer at the Rowing and Canoeing Venue in Ventura County. Since marriage, Kathleen has worked as a para-professional with disabled students; a Human Resources Administrator for Giga-tronics, Inc.; a Human Resources Assistant for the City of Pleasant Hill; the Little Angels Coordinator for St. Joan of Arc; and the part-time assistant at Dave’s law firm. She also enjoyed bowling, bunco, crossword puzzles, and her membership in the Lion’s Club.
Kathleen gave birth to her first and only child, Brian David Larsen in the summer of 1989. Brian was born with bilateral hip dysplasia which required four operations throughout his childhood. Despite working both full and part-time, Kathleen could not have been a better mother to Brian during his childhood, teenage, and adult years.
Friends and family are invited to a 10:30 Memorial Mass on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 500 Fairview Ave, Brentwood, followed by a Celebration of Life luncheon at Campos Family Vineyards, 3501 Byer Road, Byron.
