Judith “Judy” Telford left us on November 26, 2021 at age 75. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She was born to Parker and Wilma Van Neman in Taft, California on July 3, 1946. After graduating high school in Atascadero, Judy moved to San Jose with her best friend Jean “Chickie” Graves to attend IBM technical school. It was there that she met her husband of 57 years, Joe Telford. Together they had two children, Nick and Andy, and made their home in Antioch.
Judy was a lover of life and a joy to all who knew her. She was generous, thoughtful, and willful. She stood much taller than her five-foot one (and a half!) inch frame. She loved her family, books, gardening, and music - especially the blues. Many knew her as the friendly bookstore manager at B.Dalton’s, and later at Barnes & Noble, both in Antioch. Countless people fondly recall her wonderful book recommendations. She loved a good story.
Judy is survived by her husband, Joe; son, Nick; daughter, Andy; sister, Carla Perkins; brother, Mark Van Neman; grandchildren, Ashley Force, Chelsea Mulkearns, Mackenzie Telford, and Jared Telford; four great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
