John Dimitrios Aristos Gatsos III, 69, died Thursday August 30th at Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch, Ca after suffering a cardiac arrest on the evening of August 25th. John, Son of John D.A. Gatsos II and Corrine Elizabeth Mills, precedes his four sisters (Arie, Dorothy, Kally, and Nicki), three children (Matthew, Levi, and Tiffany), four grandchildren (Emma, Ezekiel, Eva, and Elvis) and numerous friends. John was raised in a household of six sisters by a single mother. Growing up in an impoverished household, he learned to be frugal and to enjoy the simple things in life. Upon adulthood he strived to make a better life for himself and what would become his family, and due to his perseverance and hard work he was extremely successful in doing so.
However, he would not want to be remembered by his financial accomplishments, but rather by the way he treated people and the example he gave. He was a kind and caring person, a truly, God-fearing, Christian man accepting of all people despite their flaws and did his best to live up to the example that Jesus set. He helped all people that he was able to help, and he truly was a person that made the world a better place. Memories of him will be cherished by many, and he will truly be missed.
A funeral service will be held Friday, September 7th at 1PM at United Methodist Church on the Rock in Antioch CA.
