Jeannette (Henderson) Fountaine, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 in Antioch, CA at the age of 92. Jeannette was born on December 25, 1926 in Okolona, MS.
Jeannette and her family moved to Boston, MA, where she graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School for Girls. In 1946, she and her younger sister Evelyn, spent the summer as Camp Counselors at the Morgan Memorial Community Camp in South Athol, MA.
In 1950, she married Richard Fountaine in Roxbury, MA and began her dream of being a loving wife and caring mother. Jeannette raised her three children Gary, Cynthia and Dawn to be strong and independent. Her love for being a mother, prompted her to foster several children and assist in raising her Grand-daughter Valerie.
Jeannette was an active members of the Altruist Social Club in Hayward, Ca, where she and her husband would attend dances, host meetings and she received numerous “best dressed” honors. Her kind nature and loving heart was felt by all of those who encountered her, while working at Union Bank of California, Sears Department Store or attending church service at the Oakland Center for Spiritual Living. During her later years, she enjoyed volunteering at the Antioch Senior’s Center, caring for her husband and spending time with her family.
Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents Manilla Gertrude (Brownlee) and Samuel Morris Henderson; her husband of 69 years Richard Fountaine; and her thirteen siblings. She is survived by her children Gary Fountaine, Cynthia Fountaine (Adriana), and Dawn Burmann (Fred); grandchildren Valerie Bernardo (Michael) and Angela Powell (Anthony); great-grandchildren Riley Fountaine and Jayden Woods; nieces Laverne Logan and Earline Craddock; and nephews Dr. Charles Henderson, Keith Morris Henderson and William Mayes; and several great nieces and nephews.
