James Willard Stockton II

James Willard Stockton II, age 78, of Brentwood, California passed away on August 26, 2022, in his home with his loving wife by his side. James (Jim) was born in San Francisco on November 1, 1943. As a child, his family moved to Antioch, California where he graduated from Antioch High School in 1961. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Jim served in the US Navy aboard the USS Hoel. Jim is a longtime Certified Financial Planner, Income Tax Professional, and Enrolled Agent with the IRS. He was the sole proprietor of a well-established business in Antioch, California for over 50 years where he served the community and multiple generations of residents. Jim was a former volunteer firefighter for the East Diablo Fire Protection District with the Brentwood Battalion Station 52. Jim also served on the Mount Diablo Metal Detectors Club board and as President of the club for a time. The club provided community service and assistance to local law enforcement on occasion. Jim leaves behind his wife of 32 years Susan Hoy-Stockton, daughters Michelle Morgan (Rey) Rodriguez of Brentwood and Josefa Molina of Santa Rosa; his grandchildren Rachel, Alyssa, and Ryan Rodriguez; Ramon and Cristina Giron-Molina; siblings Joan Schwartz, Noelle Hearn, and Dennis McLeroy; many friends and loving family members. Jim was preceded in death by his parents James Willard Stockton, Eleanor Davi McLeroy, and sister Vita Barbour. Jim enjoyed collecting rare coins, antique typewriters, and writing short stories, a few of which have been published. He was an avid storyteller and trivia enthusiast who enjoyed the game show Jeopardy. He was often referred to as the Cat Whisperer as he could command animals with his gentle voice, he was a lover of all animals. His dry sense of humor, kind heart, warm smile, and knowledge will be missed by all who knew him. A memorial to honor Jim will be held in Brentwood closer to his birthday in November.
