Born Feb. 6th, 1922. Died Feb. 3rd, 2022.

Just a few days short of his 100th birthday, James Spencer “Scotty” Scott passed peacefully while at home surrounded by his family.  He was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on Feb. 6th, 1922.  His family moved to California in 1936.  He married Marjorie Scott on Dec. 24th, 1950. His naval career started at Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy in New York before serving honorably in the US. Navy in the Pacific Theater for the duration of World War II.  Upon completion of his engineering degree he taught at Kings Point before being offered a commission in the US. Navy.  He then continued his education at San Jose State University, receiving a BA in Business.  He met Marge and after graduation went on to own and operate Antioch Auto Parts for over 50 years where he offered plenty of advice to his customers on subjects ranging from Volkswagens to politics to fishing, etc,  An avid fisherman and world traveler, Scotty regularly took his family on fly-fishing trips to Oregon and meandered on the roads less traveled. His love for history and family led him to dive deep and wide into the genealogy of his family producing an extensive digital record of his family’s origins, nicknamed “the whole enchilada”, to be passed down to future generations.  He was a Master Mason member of the Masonic Lodge of Antioch, the Antioch Historical Society and a proud member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.

More  than anything, he lived his life the way he wanted.  He was independent, drove his car around to all of his favorite places and cooked his own meals.

Preceded in death by wife Marjorie and oldest grandchild Melissa Scott. He is survived by: brother Francis “Frank” Scott, son Doug Scott, daughter Susie Scott Wilson, and daughter-in-law Marcia Matyga.
