Harry Ontione Sonnier was born on September 27, 1934 in Opelousas, Louisiana. He was the second of four children born to the late Perry Goldman (PG) Sonnier and Minola Jolevette Sonnier.
Harry attended school in both Louisiana and California. He attended Holy Ghost Catholic School in Opelousas, Louisiana. He arrived in San Francisco, California in 1946 and attended John Swett Elementary, Marina Jr High, and Galileo High School.
In 1960, while working at Candlestick Park, he met Mary L. Robinson and they were later married. From this union they had three children.
In 1963, Harry became employed with Plant Brothers. He was employed for 33 years as a master carpenter doing what he loved best until his retirement.
Harry is preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Minola Sonnier and his beloved sister Mary Helen Sonnier Phillips. He leaves behind his loving wife Mary L Sonnier, daughters; Lisa Sonnier-Nunley (Allen), Felecia Sonnier, and son Anthony Sonnier (Shirley), eight grandchildren, Calvin and Constance Sonnier, Anthony Sonnier Jr, Brandon Nunley, Ashley Sonnier, Alyssa Nunley, David and Lovely Sonnier, four great-grandchildren, brothers; Rogers J. Sonnier (Lucinda), Glen M. Sonnier, best friend; Herod Dorton, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
