Gustavo “Gus” Adolfo Tamariz, age 75, of Pittsburg, CA passed away peacefully while surrounded and embraced by his loving children on Thursday, January 25, 2018.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Teresa; son, Gustavo Jr. (Tonya), daughters: Karla and Jessica; 9 grandchildren: Gabriel, Noah, Soleil, Gianni, Gabrielle, Isabelle, James, Leila, and Ariel; 3 sisters: Vicenta (Raguel), Nydia (Luis) and Connie (Glen); and a host of many nieces and nephews.
Gustavo is preceded in death by his parents, Miguel Tamariz Velez & Concepcion Tamariz Henriquez, and his brothers; Miguel and Carlos.
Gustavo was born in Granada, Nicaragua on October 16th, 1942. He graduated from El Instituto in Granada, Nicaragua before immigrating to the U.S. in 1965. He settled in San Francisco, CA, where he lived for 31 years before moving to Antioch, CA. He retired in 2011 and enjoyed going to the casinos and spending time with his loving and beautiful grandchildren.
Gustavo enjoyed sports, especially baseball and football. He loved the SF Giants and 49ers. Gus was a great poker player and loved traveling to Las Vegas. Known for his charm and larger than life personality, he was always joking and smiling. He also was a serious man, direct and a straight shooter, but always the life of the party. Gus loved the music of the 50’s & 60’s, like Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley. He loved music and movie trivia. His nickname was “007” because of his vast collection of James Bond movies. He was loved and adored by many and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
