Guadalupe Mejia Castillo

February 9, 1931 ~ April 14, 2022 (age 91)

Guadalupe Castillo (Lupita) was born in Chiapas, Mexico on December 9, 1930 to Juan and Juana Mejia from Guatemala City, Guatemala, where she was later raised.
On March 29, 1955, Guadalupe married Daniel Castillo from Guatemala City, Guatemala where she had eight children; Angelica, Moises, Martha, David, Blanca, Lillian, Oscar, and Dario.
In 1969, her husband and her oldest daughter migrated to the United States, leaving Guadalupe and her seven remaining children in Guatemala. One year later, Guadalupe followed in her husband’s footsteps bringing, Lillian, Oscar, and Dario to the US. As she and her husband sought a place to build their life in the U.S., Moises, Martha, David, and Blanca then came over in 1971.
For twenty seven years, Guadalupe and her husband created a life full of culture, religion, and prosperity that would be passed down from generation to generation. When Guadalupe’s husband passed in 1982, she continued her legacy with hobbies such as sewing and cooking her family’s favorite foods.
Guadalupe Castillo passed on April 14, 2022 at the age of ninety one with a total of eight children, twenty grandchildren, forty nine great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. She left behind a wonderful image of faith and resilience and will always be loved, cherished, and remembered by the many generations that follow.
