Gayl Quinn Krumland peacefully passed away, entering her heavenly home in the early morning hours of Monday, April 25th.
Gayl was born in Hayward, CA and attended Hayward High School. Every summer, she worked to earn money for college at JC Penney and then at Hunt Foods Cannery. Gayl attended San Jose State College beginning in 1945 and graduated in 1949 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
Unbeknownst to Gayl, a man by the name of Roy Krumland also graduated from San Jose State with a degree in teaching that same year. Both found teaching opportunities at Liberty High School in Brentwood, CA. Roy and Gayl fell in love and were married July 16, 1950! Gayl now had everything she ever wanted, her dream job as a home economics teacher and her Roy! They taught together for 37 years before retiring.
Roy and Gayl loved to travel on their summer vacations. Gayl enjoyed reading, watching Hallmark Mysteries and PBS, along with doing crossword puzzles, sewing and knitting. Even though she had no children, Gayl knitted many sweaters and blankets for many children special to her.
Married 64 ½ years, Gayl was predeceased by her husband Roy.
She is survived by nieces and nephews and many close friends. Even though we will miss Gayl’s love and friendship, we will always cherish our special memories of her and rejoice that she is now with her Heavenly Father.
There will be a memorial service celebrating Gayl’s life, Tuesday, May 10th at 1:00pm at
Higgins Mortuary, 1310 A Street, Antioch, CA
