Evelyn (Diaz) Martin passed away peacefully on December 2, 2021. Born on July 8, 1958, in Martinez, CA, Evelyn was the daughter of Vida and Bernardo Diaz. Raised in Antioch, Evelyn graduated from Antioch High School in 1976. She met her husband, Anthony Martin, on the Pittsburg softball fields, and had just recently celebrated 33 years of marriage in October.
Evelyn worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier for 32 years where she met some of her best friends. A loving and giving woman, she was always there for everyone and was eager to offer her homemade Puerto Rican meals to friends and neighbors. Evelyn was a proud “Boricua” and enjoyed salsa dancing and attending Puerto Rican festivals with her family. She loved traveling to different Major League Baseball stadiums with her husband to watch the San Francisco Giants play, and even rooted for the Raiders, even though her husband is a 49ers fan. Evelyn always had a love for her two Yorkshire Terrier dogs, Chloe and Bailey.
Evelyn was always extremely proud of her children – her son Anthony “Kirby” and her daughter Brianna; and grandchildren – Angelo and Brielle. She enjoyed cheering in the stands at all of Angelo’s youth sporting events and was the best model for Brielle’s nail polish and makeup sessions. Her family takes comfort in knowing that Evelyn has been reunited with her father Bernardo who passed in 2020, niece Jessica who passed in 2002, and her dog Roxy.
Evelyn is survived by her mother Vida Diaz; husband Anthony; son Anthony “Kirby” and his wife Bianca; daughter Brianna and her husband Seth Bernstein; her grandchildren Angelo and Brielle Martin; sister Nancy and her husband Edward Borjon; brother Ricky and his wife Gerri; sister Elisabeth Diaz; and nieces – Marissa, Christina, Jeannette; nephew – David; great-niece – Camilla and numerous relatives.
