Donelda McClelland has gone home to be with her Lord and Savior as of
Saturday April 24, 2021 at 11:26 am. When she passed away her son
was by her side, holding her hand and she peacefully stepped into the
arms of Jesus. Donelda began her life in Sunnyside Washington with her
parents Verle and Eva Hetrick. She would say she was blessed with two
little brothers, Jerry and Frank, but they sure did keep her on her toes.
She went on to get married to Wesley McClelland and as she would say
raised a family of “yours, mine, ours and somebody else's”. She had a
heart of gold and would give all she had to help others. She achieved
many great things but the two she was most proud of were getting her
driver license at 40 and graduating from Los Medanos College in 1989
with an Associate of Science in Child Development.
Donelda was preceded in death by her husband Wes, Daughter Diane,
Son Stephen, Son Robert, Brother Jerry and Sister-in-law Mary Ann. She
was survived by her Son Mike, Daughter-in-law Missy, Daughter-in-law
Lilia, Daughter Suzie Winston, 5 Grandchildren, 7 Great-Grandchildren, 1
Great-Great Grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Many would call Donelda by the name “Hat Lady” because she never left
home without one. Not only did she always have her hat on but you bet
the purse, necklace, bracelet, outfit and shoes matched perfectly. She
was always dressed for the party and brought laughter with her to any
event. If there was music and space to dance she was dancing her heart
out. She loved her family and spending time with them sharing stories
and visiting. She enjoyed spending time at the Brentwood Senior Center,
talking with friends, playing Bingo with Evelyn, reading and sharing her
testimony to anyone who she could stop long enough to listen. The Lord
used her life in a miraculous way and it was our gift to have the times we
did with her. She may be gone from us now but we trust that we will see
her again one day in Heaven.
