Chris Hansen Jr.- October 7th, 1926 to August 17th, 2021
Resident of Antioch, CA
Chris passed away peacefully of natural causes at his home on August 17,2021.
Chris was born in Antioch to Kristen and Pearl Hansen. He was the oldest of two children and had one sister. After enlisting in the Army, he served as an Infantry and a Military Police soldier in Japan and the Philippines.
Following his military service, he began as an apprentice pipe fitter at US Steel in Pittsburg, CA. He spent his entire working career there, retiring as a Foreman in the utilities department.
In 1953, Chris married Idalyn McIntyre and they had four children. In 1968, married Francis Cabral and a year later they adopted a 5th child.
Chris grew up on a 608-acre family ranch where his family raised cattle and he worked with his father as a ranch hand and is the families official “cowboy”. He and his family are honored to have the former ranch location which is now part of the Contra Loma regional park and the home of Hansen Park located on Hansen Drive, a lasting memorial to the family namesake.
Chris was an exceptional car guy and could recall every vehicle he owned in order for over 80 years! His pride was a 1937 Oldsmobile. He was a handyman and loved working around the house and on his cars. He loved family gatherings, classic western movies, travel, cruises and attending plays in San Francisco. He was quite the historian on WWII in addition to his beloved hometown of Antioch.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents, his eldest son Kristen, and Francis his wife of 45 years.
He is lovingly survived by his remaining 4 children, Kevin Hansen, Laurie (Deno) Makris, Kraig (Bernadette) Hansen, Sergio Hansen and sister, Marie Anderson. He will also be dearly missed by his 9 grandchildren Jacob, Joshua, Sarah, Christopher, Devin, Kosta, Stefan, Frank, Rachael and 4 great grandchildren Benjamin, Cadence, Barrett and Finley.
