Benjamin David Chaffin

May 25, 1970 ~ June 2, 2018 (age 48)

Benjamin David Chaffin, age 48, of Brentwood, California, died Saturday evening, June 2, 2018 surrounded by people who loved him. Born May 25, 1970, in French Camp, California, he was the son of Cindi Stephens and Paul David Chaffin.

Ben proudly served his country in the US Army as part of the 82nd Airborne Division during the Gulf War and the Invasion of Panama.  He was a Veteran of Operation Desert Storm and was a Stinger Air Defense team chief & paratrooper.  After serving, Ben got his start in the IT industry with Circuit City & CompUSA, and did so well that it propelled him into a long career as an IT Director in the mortgage industry with RPM Mortgage, Inc & Parkside Lending. In his spare time, he enjoyed running marathons as part of Team in Training and served as a Captain & Mentor for six seasons. He was known for his quick wit, and very genuine & calming personality.  He always knew just the right words to use to encourage his mentees. Later in life, Ben picked up cycling and would spend hours riding along the Iron Horse Trail, or along the waterfront in Richmond, Berkeley, and Emeryville & across the Bay Bridge.  When he wasn’t running or cycling, you could find him relaxing & spending time with his family.  He was the rock, the heart & the balance to all of those that he considered family.  Ben was the calm center in what sometimes felt like an incredible storm.
Ben is survived by his 4 children, Brandon Langston, Tori Nicole Chaffin, Zachary Luke Chaffin and Cassidy Lee Chaffin, his sisters Erica Corser, Caroline Munster Chaffin, Kimberly Stephens, his brothers Matthew Garin Chaffin, Michael Salvetti, Cody Stephens and loving girlfriend, Christina Smith and her sons, Kellen & Ronin Beltz.

Memorial services for Benjamin Chaffin will be held at 1:00 PM, Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Higgins Chapel on 1310 A St, Antioch, CA 94509.  A Celebration of Life to follow at 2:30pm in Brentwood
