Welcome to the memorial page for

Sharon Elaine Pittman

June 4, 1950 ~ November 28, 2017 (age 67)
Sharon Elaine Pittman was called home on Tuesday November 28, 2017, at the age of 67.
She was born Sharon Elaine London on June 4, 1950 in Many, Louisiana to Willie Mae and R.L.
London.
After moving to San Francisco as a young girl she thrived as she matriculated through school
in San Francisco. At 17 she was chosen as one of the young ladies to participate in the annual
prestigious Debutante Ball at the Saint Francis Hotel in 1967. She graduated from Mission High
School the following year in 1968 and began attending San Francisco City College. Soon
thereafter, she met the love of her life, Donald Pittman. Sharon and Donald married in 1970,
joining their respective families (London/White and Pittman/Jones) as truly one large, loving
unit. Sharon and Donald had two children, Dawn and Serena. The Pittman home was the site
of many family celebrations, summer barbecues, and holiday parties. Sharon and Donald built
their home on the foundation of love and respect for one another, and that love was graciously
and generously extended to their immediate and extended family, and select friends who
became family.
Sharon’s success was not limited to her family life. After graduating high school, she started as
a switchboard operator at Delta Dental. She remained at Delta Dental for over 30 years,
ultimately serving as part of the Executive team in her role as the Executive Assistant to the
President of the company. Just prior to her retirement from Delta Dental, Sharon and Donald
embarked on the second phase of their professional careers and became entrepreneurs, purchasing commercial property and running multiple businesses that included Pittman’s
Liquors and Pittman’s BBQ. Thus, it was not until 2010 that Sharon and Donald finally and
truly retired. Retirement allowed them to travel, both near and far— frequent trips to Sonoma
County “wine country”, Southern California, Reno, NV and Texas as well as more exotic trips
to Belize, Mexico, Costa Rica, and taking Sharon’s life long dream trip to Spain.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Donald Pittman, her daughters Dawn Pittman and Serena
Couloures, siblings Carolyn “Zorina” London, Mickel London, Cedric White and Raymond
White, and granddaughters Marina Couloures and Christina Couloures, and her extended
family of cousins, brother and sister in law, nieces, nephews and friends.
Sharon lived a beautiful life that was punctuated by tremendous love, joy, kindness and
generosity. She was many things to many people— wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin,
niece, aunt, and friend. But most of all she was, and is, fiercely loved by the many people
whose lives she touched.
