Jocquard Martin Butler was born September 9, 1948 in New Orleans Louisiana. He was the second oldest of six siblings. After graduating high school, he got drafted into the Army and was shipped to Vietnam in 1967. Upon his return, from the war, he became the proud father of La Neicia Butler. Later, he moved to the Bay area to pursue modeling and art.
Joc met Chantea while working in San Francisco me his lovely wife; they were married in 1988. Joc is survived by three sons: Nigel, Joshua and Christopher. His family meant the world to him. After retirement, Joc became a gourmet cook preparing meals that his family and friends loved.
Joc made it his moral duty to think positively, to enjoy life and to establish a daily sense of purpose. Even in times of debilitating illness, he walked, watched CNN and talked on the phone to relatives and friends.
From sunrise to his recent sunset, with a fighting spirit, Joc lived life to the fullest. He loved his family and set an example of how to “Never Give Up ” .Joc succumbed to cancer on July 19, 2017.
He is survived by five siblings: Charlo, Tina, Lura, Sean, Gretchen and two grandchildren, Jessyca and Darrion Malcolm and a host of extended family members, in-laws and friends.
